Legacy Village of Jacksonville Residents Dive into New Wellness Program, 'Journey Under the Sea'

Each one competing to reach 2,500 miles walking or riding the stationary bike

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (June 7, 2016) – Legacy Village of Jacksonville residents are diving into an exciting new wellness program titled, “Journey Under the Sea,” competing to see who can be the first to walk or ride the stationary bike 2,500 miles as each one strives toward a personal exercise goal.

“Our residents stay so active. We did a wellness program last year, and our residents reached 500 miles in one month! This time we decided to raise the bar and add more miles while making it a fun, motivating competition for our residents,” said Nicole Smith, Legacy Village of Jacksonville’s Marketing Director.

Milestone prizes will be awarded along the way. Each resident’s name will be placed on the board once they have reached one mile. After that, prizes are awarded for each milestone. The first resident to reach 50 miles will receive a bookmark. The resident to reach 250 miles first will receive a free guest lunch. There will be a mystery prize for the resident who reaches 500 miles first. When each resident reaches 1,000 miles, they are entered into the 1,000 Miles Club, and the first one will receive a Legacy Village of Jacksonville cup. The first resident to reach 1,500 miles will receive a gift set. At 2,000 miles, the first resident will receive a Legacy tote bag. All residents who reach 2,000 miles will become members of the 2,000 Miles Club.

The first place grand prize winner, for reaching 2,500 miles, will receive a $250 cash prize, the second place winner a $50 gift card, and the third place winner a gift basket.

“We see such a benefit in our residents who stay active. Being active is such a vital part of aging. We want to do anything we can to help these residents stay healthy. We at Legacy Village of Jacksonville love fun competition and are so excited for this new program,” Smith said.
