JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (September 23, 2016) – Legacy Village of Jacksonville residents and staff recently recognized local emergency medical service providers by delivering lunch and goody bags to Piedmont EMS, Anniston EMS and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue.

“We are thankful for our local EMS providers and all that they do for Legacy Village of Jacksonville. We have complete faith that our residents are in good care when they’re being served by these responders,” said Wilma Yopp, executive director of Legacy Village of Jacksonville.

Lunch was hand delivered to Piedmont EMS, Anniston EMS and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue by Nicole Smith, Legacy Village of Jacksonville’s community relations director and Robbie Bell, Legacy Village of Jacksonville’s Life Enrichment Director. The lunches consisted of a chicken finger platter, potato salad, rolls and cookies.

“Residents helped prepare the goody bags. We made bags for each EMS provider and called it their ‘survival kit for emergency management’. All bags included: life savers, to remind them of all the times they’ve been one; starburst, for the burst of energy they need; a payday candy bar, because they’re not doing it for the money; a paper clip, to help hold it all together; Hershey kisses, because you deserve them from everybody; gum, to help your unit stick together; tootsie roll, to help you roll with the punches; peppermint patty, to help you keep your cool; snickers, to remind them to keep their sense of humor; mounds, for the mounds of courage they need,” Smith said.

“With all that our EMS providers do for our community and for our facility, bringing them lunch and a goody bag was the least we could do. Legacy Village is always blessed by our EMS providers when they come to Legacy Village and help our residents,” Smith continued.
