Legacy Village of Jacksonville Donates $5,000 to the ‘Kickin’ Katie 5K Fundraiser’ to Benefit the Katie Beth Carter Scholarship at Jacksonville State University

Scholarship will honor the memory of JSU student who died in recent tragic accident

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (December 13, 2016) – Legacy Village of Jacksonville donated $5,000 to benefit Jacksonville State University’s Katie Beth Carter Scholarship at the Kickin’ Katie 5K Fundraiser.

Carter recently lost her life in a tragic auto accident, on her way back to school. “The ‘Kickin’ Katie 5K Fundraiser’ was to honor the memory of Katie Beth and to raise money on behalf of this new scholarship. All proceeds from the event went to the Katie Beth Carter Scholarship, to allow future ballerinas an opportunity to attend JSU,” Nicole Smith, community relations director at Legacy Village of Jacksonville, said.

“Presenting this check was such a special moment because Katie’s parents and siblings were there to accept the check from us. Our hearts go out to the Carter family and we are thankful we had the opportunity to help give to this cause,” Wilma Yopp, executive director of Legacy Village of Jacksonville, said.
