Legacy Village of Jacksonville Memory Care Residents Celebrate ‘Christmas Around the World’ as Unique Alzheimer’s Therapy

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (January 9, 2018) – Legacy Village of Jacksonville memory care residents were treated to Christmas Around the World this past holiday season, combining a joyful holiday celebration with a unique therapy designed to stimulate learning in Alzheimer’s patients.

Residents were introduced to special holiday traditions from countries such as Mexico, China, Italy, Poland and Great Britain. Each country was recognized and celebrated with food, activities and games, as well as interesting national facts and holiday traditions.   

Volunteers throughout the Jacksonville area partook in the festivities, including four members from Jacksonville State University’s Delta Zeta sorority.  

“Our residents love experiencing and learning about these different cultures. Each Christmas season we take this opportunity to learn about holiday traditions in different countries. The activities they participate in and the facts they learn during these celebrations are great exercises for their mind,” said Robbie Bell, life enrichment coordinator of The Harbor Memory Care at Legacy Village of Jacksonville.
